Finally.....I get to write this
So this may one of my most passionate emails yet so hopefully I get the message across nice and clear
Throughout Lorraine's pregnancy she put up some training & diet info
We both wanted to put up more but we always had one nagging thought in the back of our heads
God forbid something goes wrong
Not only would it be devastating for obvious reasons
but it would take away from the message and by easy cannon fodder for those looking to have a pop
For example,
Lorraine had one little issue that made us panic a little bit
After chatting to a few people we realised it was actually pretty common and nothing to really worry about
Of course some people had the comments of "not eating" enough working on the assumption that because she work's out and is into fitness
she obviously just eats lettuce and drinks water all day
^^^^^ A lot of people do actually still think like that
Having no idea she eats like a horse and hits her calories (and no more) every day
I explained it to one PT client I had at the time and she said the same happened her
With her first child she had this problem and everyone told her she was doing to much training
So with her second child she held back and done nothing
and the EXACT same problem happened again
Last year a very fit lad in his 50's, who did a lot of running, dropped dead of a Heart Attack another client told me people in local running clubs we're thinking of easing off in case running had something to do with it
The mind boggles with the stupidity
After Lorraine's C section the nurses we're surprised how she was fit to get up and walk about the next day
Even now her recovery has went great and I'm already having to give out to her to slow her down
I don't think there is any doubt that her weight training and gentle cardio has stood to her for her recovery
Lorraine continued to exercise for a variety of reasons:
It has been part of life and routine for years so why stop when she physically felt fit.
She wanted to maintain her strength as felt it would benefit her in labour and post partum (which it did)
She also finds it great for her mental health and finds she is generally more productive when gets some daily movement whether it be a walk, stretching or a gym session.
Depending on the stage of pregnancy she aimed for 2 to 4 weight sessions per week that generally took 30 minutes maximum. On the other days she focused on daily walks and aimed to get her 10k steps in.
So her training was structured for her pregnancy and there is lots of stuff she didn't do so just because she was in the gym
doesn't mean she was going BEAST MODE on it
God know's what might happen me some day
But I'll never regret all the exercise and diet for the simple fact that
I enjoy the challenge of it and I enjoy the quality of life it provides and having energy throughout the day
and it's also a bonus that it is improving your chances of health later in life even if not being a 100% guarantee
It's a bit like Car accidents
You can't control what other people do on the roads and you may someday be in an accident outside your control
but we can at least improve our chances by driving at sensible speeds and keeping our eyes on the road
Moral of the story
1 - Sometimes bad things happen to good people and all we can do is try our best to reduce the chances of it happening
Every pregnancy is different and people need to use some common sense with their situation
Just like everyone's Fitness goals is different and everyone's life situation is different
You need to educate yourself as best as possible and try to make good decisions along the way
2 - Be careful where you get your information from
Personally, I don't take Fitness information off overweight or unhealthy Personal Trainer's
I don't take business advice from struggling business owners
and I don't take financial advice off broke people
That's just my opinion
and where you take your advice off will effect your thinking which will then effect your decisions
a bit like why you don't want your son/ daughter hanging out with that scumbag cause you know it will lead them to making dopey decisions
Anyhoo,
That's just my 2 cents on it
make of it all what you will
But before you go
