Progress, not......

Current "book of the Month" I am getting through is

The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday

Apparently loads of top American Sports teams make their players read it and the last book I read by him was very good so I thought I would check it out

While it is a very good book there is a lot of stuff I have came across before

But of course its alright nodding your head and saying "I came across this before"

The big question is if we are actually taking action on these things

and 1 chapter is titled

Progress Not Perfection

Of course we see this quote all the time on Social Media

and he makes loads of examples of people in history trying something thousands of times before getting it right. The classic stories of Thomas Edison and the Wright brothers etc and then he talks about how we get so dramatic when things don't go our way


and it's so true

We do a diet for all of 4 weeks and throw the toys out of the pram when we're not super skinny by the end of it

We start a business and get super pissed when it doesn't take off as quickly as we thought


We start a training program and get frustrated that we arn't in BEAST MODE after 4 weeks of the program     <<<<< AGAIN GUILTY

The real issue here is usually ego. What are other people saying about me, what sort of idiot am I putting all this effort in but yet not making ANY progress

When in actual fact we are making progress

Just not the Instagram worthy, Wow look at me type progress that we all love to bask in

and it's this day to day progress that separates getting the result we want compared to bouncing from idea to idea never really getting anywhere

At the minute I am trying to learn Google Marketing and how to get our site ranking high so that anytime anyone in Cavan or Dundalk search ANYTHING fitness & health related I want them to find us

And was with everything

The more you learn the less you know

It will take at least 6 months of trial and error and chipping at the block before we can get to that point and a few F bombs will be dropped a long the way

But I will be focusing on Progress and NOT perfection

and on that note
