We ran some ads on the ole Facebook last week and for all the talk about Xmas it's always a bit of a surprise the amount of people are still thinking Xmas or not, I need to get back training and get my shizzle together So fair play to them But an interesting private message came in, lets call her Mary for the craic, off the photo of one of the ads saying something along the lines of The person in this pic is doing this wrong This is really bad for you to show this about your business Thanks Mary, how very nice of her to give me business advice and I'm sure she is a very successful business person herself as these people would never just start giving advice about stuff they know nothing about Course not But while the technique wasn't perfect and she had a point on that The big problem with fitness is that people think everything needs to be perfect BEFORE they even set foot in the door and then you get jumped up trainers trying to impress other trainers by trying to force PERFECT technique on ALL their clients So let's get some facts straight here When training someone you will ALWAYS try and get them doing things as best as possible Get that technique nailed as best you can and work around any limitations they have But not everything's going to perfect After having a few injuries over the years I have spent a few bob going round the country learning off all the movement and injuries experts They all have their own ideas and opinions and it's a very interesting field But people still get injured and some can't recover no matter how much treatment they get Basically we have a rule to coach people on technique as much as possible and throughout the session But if they refuse to listen and arn't doing anything to hurt themselves then there's not much more can be done I have got frustrated with people over the years and you wonder if they are getting any benefit out of it at all And even though they can be all over the shop they still email some day or I get chatting to them And they have lost a lot of weight, feel fitter than ever and love the sessions ^^^^^ Things don't have to be perfect to make progress Do we really want to be putting people off exercise just because they can't do a few movements 100%?? Sadly a lot of muppets will do this as massaging their own ego about how much they know is more important What is the absolute best way to get better at doing push ups? It's by doing push ups <<<<< Learn by doing yes you can do other exercises and certain things to progress but the only way to get good at push ups is by doing push ups and if you're not good at doing them your first few are gonna be poor Over time they get a little better Until eventually you can do a few half decent But if every jacked up trainer started recking your head from the get go that your doing XYZ wrong It would only piss you off and tell them to stick it and probably ruin your confidence to do it again or at very least put you off it Always remember in this fitness game Perfection is a Myth it's a great goal to chase but understand you won't ever hit it In other news, Our voucher sales have actually been going great so I'm delighted to get them moving We still have a few left which we will get rid of this week when people really start to sweat over those last minute presents So you can buy any of these programs for a loved one using the vouchers: 6 Weeks €99 (New Members only or people who haven't been in for over a year) PT €250 (2 PT sessions a week at 30 minute a session x 5 weeks) 12 Week Get Lean Project €480 6 Months of unlimited classes €360 or of course you could forward this email onto someone in your life as an ever so subtle hint in the right direction so if any of those suit you or someone in your life then just hit me up ASAP Second thing, You can do a WEEK'S FREE training in our Platinum/ Get Lean Project next week in the run up to xmas This is for people who haven't done any sessions in this before to see if it's something you will like to do come January or at some stage in the New Year It's our small group Personal Training so you get the best of both worlds The attention and detail of personal training but also a bit of atmosphere and banter in a group So just hit me up we will arrange a time that suits you in that Think Big And Kick Ass
